I am a big fan of The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. I highly recommend this book if you have not already read it. Simply put Ruiz gives you 4 simple rules to live your life by. The problem is they are not as simple as they seem. One of the most difficult for me is “Don’t take anything personally.” I know on an intellectual level that sometimes people are in bad moods and just plain grouchy. If they are friends or family members I do what I can to change their frame of mind feeling that I am in some way responsible. The truth of the matter is that whatever has upset them usually has absolutely nothing to do with me and yet I am apt to take it on. It is one of the things I am working on this year. When someone is upset and all signs point to the fact it has nothing to do with me I am going to believe it and not feel that it is something wrong I have done. Wish me luck!
